Book Buddies at Atkinson

Here's a great way to encourage some of the kids in our public schools system to get reading. It's a one time volunteer opportunity with a great local school.

A gal I know is a teacher at Atkinson (the elementary school near Franklin on Division) and at the end of the year they pair adult book buddies with 4th and 5th grade students. The student picks the book, both the student and the adult read the book, and then they spend an hour talking about it on May 9th at 1 pm. If it sounds like something you might be interested in please contact Brenda Bartell at bbartell@pps.k12.or.us

I did it last year and it was a lot of fun. Sounds like this year I'll get to work with the younger sister of the girl I had last year. I'm really looking forward to it.
